Loose lips.

Loose lips is back on form on islandevents.com
Check out what she has to say these days.

Sold Out

Well, as we know by now, it shas only taken a few days for 3 female sections to sell out In Macfarlane. But Harts now only have 2 open sections, which are Herland and Nivarna.
Tribes still have a few costumes left, as do island people (who are not very good at updating their website).
So it looks like Harts will be the 1st to completely sell out.
But with so many bands, we can wonder if some bands will sell out at all. Lets just take a quick look.
2 ha'Quai say that their presentation ' A Sailors tale' is coming soon...so is carnival my dears, get with it.
Genesis Website is so bad i cant even look what sections have sold out, but it appears none.
Image Nation have lots of nice costumes still available. (none sold out)
Legacy are struggling. None appear to be sold out.
Masquerade. Nope.
Pulse8 are pulse-less.They have sold out Anti Freeze with the large backpack. They must be surprised as next to sold out there is a very large !
Trevor wallace. None sold out.
So sistas, please, unless you want to be on the catwalk by yourself, shaking you cocktail at yourself, or find yourself lonesome in legacy, get a move on and get in either tribes, island peeps, or Macfarlane.

Another section sold out

The section Pani Narin has now also sold out in Macfarlane. Looks like the females are the ones registering early..

MacFarlane

Well, saucy is much better at blogging for me, I must say I am a Novice. Check out the story of Boyie on her Blog. It very well Informed.
For me, just seeing the costumes was fantastic, but I really did want to know the story. SO i was so glad to finally get it.
And I must say, it works.
Myself, I will be in 'The Caribbean Sea', which is the first section.
Already sold out are

Anna Dhan
Bazaar (female)

I Know that on the first day of registration, there was a lot of action at the mas camp, with over 180 costumes being sold.
Not sure yet the size of the band, but if it is 1500, that means over 10% sold on the first day, and that is before online registration started.
Word reaches me, that the Cribbean sea will be sold out within the next few days and that Indian ocean is sold out already.
I know everyone who played mas in last years presentation , and those who are playing with brian for the 1st time, are going to have an exceptional carnival.

Hot tunes

Light up the air!!
There are some hot tunes about folks. Living away from Trinidad, get my carnival fix from toronto-lime.com, and make sure i am well informed of all the tunes I am going to hear when I get there.
Right now, my favorites are

Light it up - Machel & Patrice
Chocolate - Sanell
Woman By my side - Peter Ram
Unity - Miss Alysha

BUT

The Hottest Tune, In my opinion Is CRAZY - COLD SWEAT.

Everyone I Speak too, absolutely loves it.

Macfarlane Mas Camp

The mas camp should Finally be open today according to sources.
Situated at the corner of Rosalino Street, its the old islandevents.com moulin rouge mas camp. Most people dont know where that is as nobody ever went. Well, actually I went. But I found it was a little like De Costars. I mean, the colors were nice but the waistcoat they made me try on was something I could have bough 15 years ago in a thrift shop in London. Not even London, maybe Kent. The womens were also bad. Just a bra with a few sequins, and the bra was a completely different color to that of the beads. I didn't try these on.
I must say tho, the man was very helpful, but i could tell he wasnt really too keen on the costumes himself, especially when he agreed that they were bad, and told me to try Tribes if i wanted something better.
But they did have p diddy mother as the band celebrity that year. Or was it sylvester stallone mother? Can't remember.
Back to Macfarlane. The website will, I am told, be fully up and running by weekend. The names should also be linked to the costumes.

Unsafe?

According to Islandevents.com, skinner park and Jean Pierre Complex are both unsafe for Mas and Pan.

'According to a Guardian report, the state of both venues was of such
concern to the civil engineers, that the information was passed onto the SIGs
before the official report has been sent to Minister of Works and Transport Colm
Imbert, said another spokesman'

Read the full article online at www.islandevents.com

Maybe we will get one more chance to jump up on the stage in the savannah. Also, Peter Minshall was featured in this weekends express. Read the article here

http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index.pl/article?id=161074477

Also heard on the grapevine that Mr Minshall WANTS to bring out a band, but as per the article, does not like the way Carnival is going. He apparently has several ideas and drawings of bands that he has always wanted to bring out. Maybe this year we will get to see one. With no bands fully sold out as of december 31st, there are still plenty people who will be willing to play mas with Minshall again in 2007.

Story of Boyie

So we have all seen the costumes, But what exactly is the story of boyie?
According to the website, you can look at the launch pictures and follow the story, but I must admit I cannot really follow any story.
And I was reliably informed last night, thst there seems to be a missing section from the website. Its true that there were to be 15 section, and that there are only 14 visable on the site. But also, you can see the missing section on the launch photos. Look for pic 40.
Have a happy (not too hungover) new year,

Macfarlane launch...soca tunes....happy new year

So Brian has finally managed to launch his band!
And what a band it is, all the flavours and colors of india.
The sections look really nice. But although the website is up, there is no section names or prices or registration info right now, but from what i hear, right after the new year the website will be up and running full speed ahead.
Yesterday they also put up the pics from the launch, and they look fabulous.
Not sure which section I will be in yet, but I know for sure, that this is the band of choice for me this year.
Lots of new tunes up on toronto-lime.com.
The one i love right now is Blazer 'Be mine tonight'. I can see myself chipping along to that.
Have a wonderful New year,

Veni cancelled

Yes, I have heard that Veni Fete has sadly been cancelled. This is due to about 10 fetes all on the same night, and the promoters worried that they will not manage to sell enough tickets to make it viable. Its a shame, but one can understand their concerns.
I just wonder which fete will take its place?? (If one can).

What the.....

So Macfarlane Launch is put back again...
What I want (That song again!!!) to know is...Will the band actually happen?
When We will see a press release?
When we will see the drawings?
As I am overseas based, I had the tribes TLC sent to me ages ago, and I could have played in any section in that band, and according to saucys Blog, still can, as of today, play in a few sections of IP (although I dont really want to).
What will happen to the merry band macfarlane who played last year and this year still have no place to call home (just like panorama etc) come carnival 2007?
Brian, please, Give us some news.
Will Minshall once agin rise like a phoenix from the flames and become our messiah?
Apart from that What about the BWIA/Caribbean Airlines mess???
Last week I could have got a cheap flight from London gatwick for £299 on virgin. instead I am booked on a close to $6000tt Bwia Flight that may also now be from Gatwick, with a stopover in barbados. I paid for a heathrow flight! I apid for a direct flight. I still dont know if I have a flight.
What a mess.
What to do, but sip my last sip of fernandes, put on my toronto-lime.com, crank up the heating and dream.
